Credit Bureau Dispute LettersHere are three sample credit bureau dispute letters that you can send to the credit bureaus in order to dispute incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate information.

Do not dispute more than 3-4 items at a time. Experts claim that disputing too many items may suggest that you’re engaging in fraudulent credit repair tactics.

Send the letters via certified mail, return receipt requested, so that you have document that the credit bureau received your correspondence. Remember to enclose a copy of your credit report with the disputed items encircled. Also, include any documents that support your position (Copies – NOT originals).

Although all 3 major credit bureaus offer online credit report dispute services, most financial advisors recommend disputing your credit report by mail only. This creates a “paper trail” and makes it harder for the credit bureaus to ignore your request.
