Credit Report Dispute Letters
Limit your dispute to a maximum 3-4 items at a time. Experts claim that disputing too many items may suggest the credit bureaus that you’re engaging in fraudulent credit repair tactics.
You should send the letters via certified mail, return receipt requested, so that you have document that the credit bureau received your correspondence. Enclose a copy of your credit report with the disputed items encircled or marked. Remember to include any documents that support your position (Sent copies – NOT the original documents).
While the 3 major credit bureaus encourage consumers to file disputes online through their websites, most financial advisors recommend disputing credit reports by mail only. This creates a “paper trail” and makes it harder for the credit bureaus to ignore your request.
