Free Access to Credit Reports

Free Access to Credit ReportsEveryone has a right for free access to credit reports from each of the 3 major credit bureaus every 12 months. You should take advantage of this privilege and order your free reports to monitor your credit, check for errors and protect yourself against identity theft.

How to Get Free Access to Credit Reports?
The 3 major credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax & Experian) have put up a central website named Annual Credit Report Request Service for the sole purpose of enabling consumers access to their annual credit reports.

This website is monitored by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), is perfectly safe to use and is the ONLY place where consumers can get free access to credit reports. Although you can access your credit reports on each of the 3 major credit bureaus private websites, these reports aren’t free and cost money. The ONLY way to gain FREE access to credit reports is thru the Annual Credit Report Request Service.

Credit reports can be ordered online, over the phone or by mail. Customers that order their credit reports online are able to access them immediately, download and print them.

Consumers can order a separate report from just one credit bureau of their choice, or a combined report from all 3 bureaus (called 3-in-1 Credit Report). Most consumers order the combined report because it’s much easier to check and detect errors.

Personal Information Scams Warning
There are plenty of scam websites that attempt to steal your personal information.

The Annual Credit Report Request Service will not call or send you an email asking for personal information. If you do receive such a request – DO NOT respond to it!

Also, avoid using any other website that advertize “Free Credit Reports“, “Free Credit Scores” etc. Most are imposter sites that either try to steal information from you, or charge you a fee for a service that’s free by law!
