I hear that more and more employers are pulling applicants’ credit. What do employers look for in a credit check?

    Depends on kind of job

I guess it depend on the employer and the kind of job. For example, any job that has to do with financing of handling cash such as banks, insurance etc don’t want people with financial difficulties because statistically they are more prawn to stealing or embezzlements.

As to non-financial related job, I’m not sure. Maybe they can learn about your dependability from how you manage your financial matters. It’s also another way for them to learn a bit about you besides what you tell them in the interview.

They think that if you cannot sort out your own finances then you probably won’t be able to sort out theirs.

Also, you have a lot of debt they won’t trust you with their cash.

Employers associate good credit with responsibility and discipline. Most employers don’t place tremendous weight on it, but applicants for financial or government jobs can expect their credit scores to be a factor.
