Re: How to obtain free credit score
You need to understand that unlike credit reports that must be given to you for free by law, credit scores are not free. You have a right to get your credit score, but you need to pay for it.
Many sites, including the three major credit bureaus sell consumers credit reports, both as a single purchase or as a part of a subscription. Usually most offer a free trial period of 7 or 10 days. You can take advantage of this offer and try to obtain a one-time free credit score.
However, you will need to provide them your credit card details, and positively cancel the automatic subscription or you will start paying for the service.
Having that said, there are few honest free credit score services that don’t ask for your credit card details and have no trial period. The good one that I personally recommend (and use for myself) is Credit Karma. You can get a free credit score, credit monitoring and a credit score simulator for free, year round. Other known services are Credit Sesame and Quizzle.
